20 kWp Hybrid Solar Power System Installed at Prince Charles Luxury Apartments, Kololo – Kampala

Kweli Energy has completed the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 20 kWp hybrid solar power stabilisation system at Prince Charles Luxury Apartments in Kololo, Kampala.

The system was installed to serve a penthouse residence within the development, addressing high electricity costs and unreliable grid supply.

Hybrid Solar System for Stable Power in Kololo

Grid power in parts of Kampala can be unstable and increasingly expensive. For a penthouse residence with multiple air conditioning units, water heaters and heavy household loads, interruptions and voltage fluctuations are more than inconvenient — they affect comfort and long-term operating costs.

The client required a solution that would:

  • Reduce dependence on the grid
  • Maintain stable power during outages
  • Lower overall electricity expenditure

System Design and Configuration

Kweli Energy designed a 20 kWp hybrid solar system integrated with 30 kWh of lithium battery storage.

The system operates on solar during the day and transitions to battery during low generation or grid outages. This ensures continuous operation of all connected loads without manual switching.

System configuration includes:

  • 20 kWp bifacial solar PV modules
  • 30 kWh lithium battery storage
  • 16 kVA LV smart hybrid inverter
  • Wi-Fi remote monitoring for system oversight

The installation was fully tested and commissioned to ensure stable operation across all power sources.

What the Solar System Powers

The hybrid system supports all penthouse electrical loads, including:

  • Air conditioning systems
  • Water heaters
  • Refrigerators and kitchen appliances
  • Lighting
  • Other essential residential loads

Measured Results

Following commissioning, the system delivers:

  • Approximately 25 MWh of solar energy annually
  • Around 92% reduction in grid electricity consumption
  • Approximately 99% reduction in power interruption impact
  • Estimated 18 tonnes of CO₂ reduction per year

The result is stable power and significantly reduced grid reliance for the residence.

Hybrid Solar Installation in Kampala

Kweli Energy designs and installs hybrid solar and battery systems for luxury apartments, residential developments, commercial buildings and industrial facilities across Kampala and Uganda.

Our approach is straightforward:

  • Stability first.
  • Cost control second.
  • Long-term performance always.

If you are considering a hybrid solar power system in Kololo or elsewhere in Kampala, our team can assess your load profile and design a system aligned to your operating requirements.
