Kweli Energy: 3.3 kWp Hybrid Solar Power System Installed for AirBnB in Jinja
Published by Kweli Energy admin on
Kweli Energy completed the design, supply, installation and commissioning of a 3.3 kWp hybrid solar power stabilisation system at The Jewel & The Lake AirBnB, located along Nile Crescent in Jinja, Uganda.
The system was installed to address frequent power outages and high electricity costs affecting guest comfort and daily operations.
The Challenge: Power Cuts Affecting Guest Experience
The property experienced regular grid interruptions. When power failed, lighting, security cameras, internet connectivity and essential appliances stopped working.
For a hospitality property, even short outages affect guest comfort and security monitoring. In addition, rising electricity costs were reducing overall profitability.
The client required a stable and cost-effective power solution that would support continuous operation.
The Kweli Solution: 3.3 kWp Hybrid Solar System with Lithium Battery Storage
Kweli Energy designed and installed a 3.3 kWp hybrid solar power stabilisation system integrated with 10 kWh of lithium battery storage and a 5 kVA smart hybrid inverter.
The system runs on solar during the day and switches to battery during low generation or grid outages, maintaining uninterrupted supply for the property.
System configuration:
- 3.3 kWp solar PV array
- 10 kWh lithium battery storage
- 5 kVA LV smart hybrid inverter
- Wi-Fi remote monitoring
The system was configured to prioritise lighting, security systems and essential guest loads.
What the System Powers
The hybrid system supports:
- Lighting
- Security cameras
- Internet equipment
- Refrigeration
- Kitchen appliances
- Other essential guest facilities
Measured Results
Since commissioning, the system delivers:
- Approximately 5 MWh of solar energy annually
- Around 40% reduction in grid electricity consumption
- Approximately 95% reduction in power interruption impact
The result is more stable operations, improved guest experience and reduced electricity costs.
